The Panorama of Tatras
Day 1 Take a morning flight with SkyEurope to Poprad Airport, a gateway to the Tatra National Park. Rent a car at the airport and follow to the Demanovska Valley, in the midst of the Low Tatra National Park. There are several very good hotels of available in the valley. Day 2 Spend a relaxing walk along the Demanovska valley, well-known for its extensive cave system, with two caves open to the public and the chair-lift to the Chopok foothill offering excellent hiking trails with breathtaking views of the Tatra Region. Spend the evening in Liptovsky Mikulas, the centre of the historic Liptov County with numerous cafes and restaurants. Accommodation: Demanovska Valley/Jasna, Low Tatra National Park
Day 3 On this day, visit in the Spis Region, considered to be the art treasury of Slovakia. In the morning visit the medieval town of Levoca, famous for it’s St. James Church with the highest wooden Gothic altar in the world. In the afternoon explore the UNESCO listed medieval monuments under the majestic Spis Castle, one of the largest castle compounds in Europe. See Spisska Kapitula, a fortified residential town of the Spis bishop. Accommodation: Demanovska Valley/Jasna, Low Tatra National Park
Day 4 Day in the High Tatras can provide many opportunities for hikes in the national park. We recommend an easy walk from the Strbske Pleso, a spa town at the large mountain lake reflecting a panorama of the mountain peaks. From here follow on the red marked path to the Popradske pleso, another mountain lake with a chalet, where you can rest and have your lunch. Return via the Symbolic Cemetery, where memorials for mountain victims can be seen. In the afternoon you can relax at the wellness centre of the AquaCity spa resort in Poprad. Day 5 This day will be a highlight of your stay in Slovakia. After a brief visit in the splendid wooden Lutheran church in Kezmarok, you will explore a unique region of Zamagurie that offers its major attraction: rafting at the Dunajec River. The river meanders through the Pieniny National Park and forms a border between Slovakia and Poland. Eat lunch at the Pieniny Chalet in Lesnica a two hours comfortable walk along the river will bring you back to your car (alternatively, you can use a shuttle from the Pieniny Chalet). Afternoon visit in Cerveny Klastor, a medieval monastery under the Three Crowns Mountain. Return to the hotel. Accommodation: Demanovska Valley/Jasna, Low Tatra National Park
Day 6 Morning drive to Poprad Airport for a homebound flight.
